Messing MS63
Messing MS 63 ist eine Legierung und wird sehr gerne im Modellbau-Bereich eingesetzt. Es zeichnet sich durch herausragende Löteigenschaften aus und ist deswegen unerlässlich.
Auch heut zu Tage verwendet man Messing wegen seiner goldähnlichen Farbe oft für Verzierungen und Beschläge. Des weiteren findet Messing bei vielen Blechblasinstrumente und einigen Holzblasinstrumente bei der Fertigung Verwendung.
In der Technik wird Messing überall dort eingesetzt, wo gleichzeitig gute elektrische Leitfähigkeit und mechanische Stabilität wichtig sind. Antennen und Hohlleiter werden z.B. sehr oft aus Messing gefertigt. Des weiteren wird Messing wegen seiner guten korrosionschemischen Eigenschaften für Armaturen und Formstücke in der Sanitärinstallation verwendet. Schiffsschrauben z.B. werden aus Sondermessing ohne die Bestandteile von Blei und Zinn) gefertigt.
Im Gegensatz zu Aluminiumlegierungen ist Messing nicht aushärtbar. Die Festigkeit von Messing kann somit nur durch geeignete Legierungswahl gesteuert werden.
Die Farbe von Messing variiert je nach Mischungsverhältnis von goldorange (bei hohem Kupferanteil) bis hellgelb. Messing ist ein wenig härter als Kupfer, aber nicht so hart wie Bronze (einer Kupfer-Zinn-Legierung). Die Messingschmelze ist eher dünnflüssig und nimmt im Gegensatz zu reiner Kupferschmelze weniger Gas auf und lässt sich aus diesem Grunde blasenarm gießen.
